The AWHONN website includes any and all AWHONN Section websites. AWHONN Sections are required to comply with the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy in order to have a link on our site; however, beyond this requirement, AWHONN has no control over and is not responsible for the practices and content of the individual websites of the AWHONN Sections.

AWHONN recognizes and respects the personal privacy of its website users and strives to provide a safe, secure user experience. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, protect and disclose information we receive through this website.

If you purchase products from the AWHONN online store or make donations to HealthFunds on the AWHONN or AWHONN Section websites, your order is processed by a third party and your credit card information is collected and processed by that third party. In connection with such purchases/donations, AWHONN will record certain information, such as the type of products ordered or purchased, and the date of the transaction.

AWHONN will not disclose to third parties any personal information it gathers from you on our website except as specifically agreed to by you or as follows: 

• To Provide Services to Members/Registered Users. We may share your personal information with certain third party vendors or suppliers to process any orders for products or services that you may have placed with the AWHONN Store. In addition, specific services that we make available on our site may require that we disclose some or all of your personal information to third parties. For example, it may be necessary for us to provide your personal information to an accrediting body to verify that you have successfully completed one of our continuing education (CE) courses. Once your personal information is in the possession of any such third party, that information will become subject to the third party’s privacy policy.

• To Provide Membership Lists. AWHONN does make its membership list available to certain companies on a rental basis. Each rental of the AWHONN membership list is for one use only and must meet very strict guidelines. All AWHONN members can "opt-out" or choose to not have their name included on the membership list.

• To Law Enforcement Authorities and Governmental Entities.  We may disclose such information if legally required to do so, or if requested to do so by a governmental entity, or if we believe in good faith that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to legal requirements or comply with legal process; (b) protect the rights or property of AWHONN; (c) prevent a crime or protect national security; or (d) protect the personal safety of users or the public.

• To our Business Partners and Sponsors.  We may share aggregate statistical information about our visitors, sales, traffic patterns and site usage with our business partners and advertisers. There is nothing in this information that could be used by our partners or sponsors to identify or contact you.

• AWHONN Sections. We feature links to all the AWHONN Sections in the United States, Canada and the Armed Forces. AWHONN Sections are required to comply with the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy in order to have a link on our site; however, beyond this requirement, AWHONN has no control over and is not responsible for the practices and content of the individual websites of the AWHONN Sections.

In addition to links to our Sections, we feature links to related sites such as Nursing for Women's Health (formerly AWHONN Lifelines) (http://nwh.awhonn.org), JOGNN (Journal of Obstetric, Gynecological and Neonatal Nursing) (http://jognn.awhonn.org), and Health 4 Women Online (http://www.health4womenonline.com). AWHONN provides some content on these sites. However, AWHONN has no control over the operations of these websites, which operations are controlled and maintained by a third party. AWHONN has implemented technical and organizational measures designed to secure your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration or disclosure.  From time to time, we review our security measures in order to consider appropriate new technology and methods.  Please be aware that we cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties will never be able to defeat those measures or use your personal information for improper purposes.

When you place an order online at AWHONN, your credit card information is protected through the use of SSL encryption. SSL makes it difficult for your credit card information to be intercepted or stolen while being transmitted. In addition, AWHONN participates in the Paypal e-commerce system for handling credit card transactions online.
